Appalachia Adventures, Documentary Dates, & Radar Records- Weekly Wrap-up: September 3 - September 9, 2024

September 9, 2024No Comments

What a life style we are privileged to live as skaters. We have figured out a way to perpetuate youth and resit stresses that society has forced upon the masses by simply pushing to the store instead of walking. The seemingly obvious choice you made at one point in your life to pick up a skateboard now has manifested its self in ways you never would have imagined as you find your self addicted to putting four wheels on the ground and getting after it in any and all circumstances that you can get away with it. We are liberated in the fact that we do not have to try to impress the other members of society because we know that generally they do not appreciate our art form anyway and therefore we are not held within limitations of what is “cool” to do and what is not. This freedom of motion means we can do anything, anytime, anywhere without having an administrative authority telling us it wasn’t properly executed according to a strictly regulated set of rules. This week’s Weekly Wrap-up is dedicated to all the homies and homettes, out there rolling rather than strolling and after you get done catching up on whats been going on these past few days, get back out there and impress absolutely no one however it feels best to you.

We are bringing out a heavy hitter right out of the gate so you better grab a snack before you get to deep into the newly released Local x NCDH Shinerun 2016. This annual trip has become legendary and has already proven to provide plenty of stackable clips on roads that aren’t often, if ever, seen in videos circulating around the web. This years edit lives up to and may even surpass the previous years voyages, but we will let you be the judge of that after you watch the montage for your self.

Have you been battling shiners and heel bruises all in the name of getting your hesh game on lock?? The physical pain alone is enough to worry about let alone equipment needs which is something well understood by the crews at Spitfire Wheels and Metro Skateboarding who have recently announced they are giving away a sponsorship from Spitfire for a year to one lucky shralper. The details on how to become eligible are all scribed out and can be found here but before you even mash that link you better know that you will have to bring your A game for this one.

The best skate videos are the ones that ooze with individualism and creativity. These are the ones that inspire you to transform how you see the possibilities of your local spots with an end result for the viewer of skateboarding being more fun and free. Daniel Corrigan has done just this with his new part put out by The Friend Ship Skateboards which is a must watch pre-session for that good good inspiration.

Attention all Shop Owners who are looking to support a completely Skater Owned and Operated coalition: Eastern Skateboard Supply is now carrying the grass roots skateboard brand GOOD Skateboards, a company that is owned and ran by iconic skater Tosh Townend. If you want your local shop to get you some tried and true GOOD wood ask them to hit up their ESS Rep to get that bad boy in the mail to you ASAP!

Rider/Industry News:

A little while ago we did an announcement of an exciting new full length documentary being released by Kebbek Skateboards on the topic of a recent trip they took to the island of Cuba to distribute skateboards to those who need them most. The film is titled Lost in Havana and this week the premiere dates and locations have been determined and blasted for the whole skate world to see. If you have not ever been to a gathering like this, it is 100% worth your time and will only connect you deeper within your local community while also getting to view some radical footie. Check out the flyer below to see if any of the locations are in your neck of the woods try and make it out! Wheelbase News will be at the Broadway Bomb showing so come hang out with us there and help support the homies at Kebbek for supporting us!

Wheelbase Fam:
