Famed for its groovy vibes and funky ramps of goodness, MuirSkate Longboard Shop‘s Downhill Disco will return for the year 2015! Over the weekend of April 10-12 hundreds of skateboarders from all disciplines and areas will converge in San Diego (official location TBA) for a groovin’ downhill skateboarding par-tay! For those of you unfamiliar with “the Disco”, just know that this three-day event is a celebration of skateboarding on wooden objects as well as a celebration of friendship, good vibes, and goin’ real fast down a hill with your buds.
For those of you who are familiar with the Downhill Disco, hear this: Scott “El Beasto” Lembach (owner and team rider at MuirSkate) has informed us that there will be some changes to this year’s format!
In year’s past our cone-and-obstacle course race has featured a “head to head” format, but this year we’re going to do it a bit differently. We’ll be running a split course! We’re going to place identical features in two parallel lanes so that two riders can race the course at the same time without worrying about running into one another. Along with the addition of dual lanes, we’ve also removed the timing qualification system to simplify the process. Ye who crosses first, wins! Our aim with all of this is to allow the event to flow more quickly so we can get more runs on the course!
In addition to the changes mentioned above, the “freeride” jam will be happening all day Saturday and will feature all of the obstacles from Sunday’s race course, with no pressure to perform! Just come kick it with the community and perhaps pick up some free goodies from the various vendors.

Friday, April 10
5:00pm - 7:00pm — Pre-Event Registration
6:00pm - 7:00pm — Autograph signing with pro riders!
7:00pm - Midnight — Meet & Greet at the MuirSkate Warehouse
8:00pm - 9:00pm(ish) — Best 45 Seconds Ever Mini-Ramp Contest — $200 First Prize!
Saturday, April 11
9:00am - Noon — Registration & Setup — Come help us assemble the ramps!
Noon - 5:00pm — Open Freeride — Jam the hill and hits the ramps with us!
8:00pm - Midnight — Disco Party! — Meet us at MuirSkate HQ for a groovin’ good time!
9:00pm - Midnight — Open Mini Ramp Session — Skate it up or just enjoy the vibes!
Sunday, April 12
Noon - 2:00pm — Open Freeride — Jam the hill and hits the ramps with us!
2:00pm - 5:00pm — Split Course Obstacle Race! — We’re splitting up the course this year to run two parallel lanes! It’s Disco to the MAX!
And here’s a bit of fine-print:
- Tickets will be required to skate at the event, whether or not you’ll be “competing”. (Paid entry guarantees you a spot in the obstacle course on Sunday and in the “Freeride” jam on Saturday!)
- The Disco will take place rain or shine. (And while we sure hope it stays dry, you bet your boots we’ll be gettin’ down should the wetness appear!)
