Helmet Review: Predator DH6

| October 16, 2024 | Comments (0)

The Predator DH6 is the first ever production helmet designed specifically for downhill skateboarding. The 2012 edition is the third edition of this helmet and meets multiple safety certification standards. Features include a full-face design, racheting flip-up visor, a double D-ring chin-strap, better upward visibility, and a chin vent to prevent fogging. In addition, each helmet comes with two visors, a carrying bag, as well as two moisture wicking insert kits to ensure fit.

In order to test the Predator DH6, we took it out to a winding local run near Wheelbase Headquarters.

Results/Findings:

Pros:

The DH6 is sleek, lightweight, and we really liked the added upward visibility provided by this latest design. Also, the newly added D-ring chinstrap provided further confidence at high speeds, and the small chin vent did in fact keep our visor from fogging. We also enjoyed the simple matte-black color option.

Cons:

We’d like to see weather-sealing added around the visor, as well as provide the chin-vent with and open/shut option.

Overall: There’s definitely a reason why so many downhill skateboarders choose the Predator DH6—it’s because it does the job and it does it well. After our testing, we believe the Predator DH6 is a great option for any downhiller looking for solid head protection, sleek styling, and versatile comfort.
