Board Review: Road Rider “Rail Gun”

November 20, 2024No Comments

The Road Rider “Rail Gun” is an 8 ply maple top-mount with proprietary die-cut carbon and fiberglass inlay. This board measures 9.75 inches wide, and 36 1/4 inches long, with an adjustable wheelbase of 27 to 28 inches.

The Testing:

In order to test the Rail Gun we took it to a local favorite and hit it as fast as possible.

Results/Findings:

Pros:

The shorter length and lightweight of the Rail Gun provides a nimble, but stable ride. The relatively mellow concave combined with 50º trucks creates a slightly divey ride that we really enjoy. And the inlayed fiberglass and carbon, provides increased stiffness.

Cons:

While the wheelbase options are definitely adequate, we would like to see a wider range of mounting options. Additionally, while most riders will have no trouble on the Rail Gun, keep in mind that it is not the longest board.

Overall:

The Rail Gun is a nimble, stable, and an all-around fun option for downhill and freeriding. The Rail Gun’s proprietary construction provides the rigidity necessary for high speed bombing, and the dexterity necessary for more technical freeriding.
