Switchbacks Series #3: Portland, Oregon

June 29, 20121 Comment

Our homies over at Rip City Skate & PDX Dh are truly hands-on when it comes to their local skate community. One of the ways in which they get involved is by throwing rad grassroots freerides and races, such as this one, whenever possible. Their community building efforts have helped foster a diverse and thriving shred community in Portland, Oregon.

That said, when our friend Scott of Muir Skate invited Wheelbase to head up to Oregon with his crew for a little R&R (Ripping & Radnastiness), of course we replied with a resounding: Yeah Buddy!. The Switchbacks Series #3 event’s large & international turn-out, it’s legally sanctioned status through the city, as well as the general stoke we witnessed on June 10, 2012;  was powerful testimony to Rip City Skate & PDX‘s efforts to help grow and sustain a badass skate scene in Portland, OR.

Kudos to JP Rowan, Billy “Bones”, Casey Morrow and the  rest of the crew.

Podium: Some dudes won, some did not. We remember a day amongst friends.

Anyway, enough of the blah, blah blah. Let’s get back to the shit we came here for: Skateboarding!

Please enjoy this visual refection of our experience at the Switchbacks Series #3:
