I left My Heart In San Francisco: Episode 1

December 19, 20115 Comments

The year is 2011, but the future is now. . .

We are the Sunset Sliders from San Franpsycho, California and we’re here to make dreams a reality. “I Left My Heart In San Francisco” is our monthly Wheelbase column and will focus on the most important parts of skateboarding: sweet-times, community building, donuts, and overall Awesomeness. Our community approach to skateboarding branches throughout The Bay Area, creating connections and developing a kinship amongst all skaters on their quest for Radness. We literally skate all that is possible in our exploration of the curvature of space and time and will be sure to bring that to you in the form of the funk—the true funk—and nothing but the funk!  Our hometown is the cradle of skateboarding and truly the City of Hills. “I left My Heart In San Francisco” is a glimpse—a taste—a titillation of what goes on in our Sliders World, and we are sure you’ll enjoy it as much as we all do. . . Keep your eyes peeled, it has begun!

Cool video along with the other ones. I never did any sliding but I met Someone named Chad yesterday he told me about this website. I need to study the history of skateboarding. It seems like it could have some ties to acrobatic sports cause clowns balance themselves on cylinders an boards.

Yo Manny, thanks for checking us out, and you’re right about the acrobatic correlation. Skateboarding is all about balance and playing with one’s ability to explore flexibility, contortion, momentum and the testing of all that against gravity. Get into it man—so much fun!

No problem. thanks for responding and letting me know about this. I’m gonna have to get a board an start learning how to fall.lol my boss has got me interested in circus cause she was co-founder of San francisco’s 1st circus school. She is no longer employed there which I think is a fucked up situation. I told her about this website too. Do u think the longer skate boards from the vans store for $100 would be a good one to start with? I’m from Kansas, it’s flat at hell out there. Maybe 1 or 2 hills in the city
