Most of you have already seen a grip of images and videos of this year’s Spring Marhill Freeride on either facebook, youtube, or vimeo; but what you haven’t seen yet are the pics from inside the helicopter cockpit. Thanks to Deano, the event organizer; and Louis Pilloni of Sector 9 & SkateHouseMedia, I was blessed with the opportunity to shoot photos of Maryhill from inside a 1950s helicopter. It was such an amazing experience and I am so thankful to be able to share these unique images with you via Wheelbase. Read More
The Outlaw: Dump Road

On the surface, an outlaw race is just another race. Riders move from point A to point B, somebody wins, and blah-de-da-blah—the race is over. But the rad thing about skateboarders is that we’re creative by nature and always find a way to turn the mundane into the epic. Enter The Rad Zone: DC’s Race, 2011

As the T-shirt said: “Great Party, Lame Hill.” The Sector dudes are on to something with that one. Ha ha! Read More
Coast’s SoCal Slide Jam & Safety Clinic

My morning started by rolling into a very wet, empty parking lot at the bottom of Talega—worried that nobody was going to show, with the weather like it was. After lugging the easy-ups to the hill, I came back down to see cars filled with skaters piling into parking lot. The Laguna Lurkers rolled up deep—each one donning a “skateboarding isn’t a crime” shirt. Read More
Santa Gnarbara Slide Jammy-Jam
I’m back in Long Beach today, sitting in front of my computer, looking out my office window at a wet and windy Pacific morning—not the most inspirational vantage from which to write an article about shredding. However, the good times and warm weather of the Gnarbara Slide Jam are still fresh in my mind, so it’s probably best to quickly get the details out before I begin my slow decent into the nearsightedness of the daily.
