Wheelbase Graphic Challenge Wrap Up.
We organized this challenge as a vehicle to bring a large swath of the skateboarding community together who otherwise may have never connected. We worked hand-in-hand with our friends at Comet Skateboards, Divine Wheels, and Caliber Trucks in order to bring you this experiment in community building. The above brands are from opposite coasts, and regions, and we like to think that by working together with them, as a collective, we somehow helped bring the community a bit closer.
That said, the greatest success of this graphic challenge was in connecting the global community of skaters and artists together to create this rad downhill board. We had a 100 skaters from across the entire globe send in their inspirational art work, and thousands more who voted on the top ten finalists. To all the artists: you guys and gals are truly talented and we thank you for sharing your creativity with all of us. To the skaters and thier friends & family who sent in their votes and showed thier support for the artists: We salute you and tip our hats in your direction. Read More

The Wheelbase Board Graphic Challenge
Calling all Artistic Shred-doggies,
We have a new and exciting challenge hitting the streets today—it’s the Wheelbase Board Graphic Challenge! The crew has been working on this puppy for awhile now, and we are excited to finally have it all ready to launch. So here’s the scoop: Skaters from all over the world are invited to send in their best artwork for a chance to have it printed as a board graphic on a limited-edition Comet/Wheelbase freeride deck (see below). We have joined forces with the Comet Skateboards team and collectively designed a radical, new freeride shape. Our choice to work with Comet Skateboards in order to bring you this Graphic Challenge was a simple one—Comet has a long history of working hand-in-hand (see: The FSM Story) with the skate community in order to produce the construction, shapes, and graphics that skaters want to ride. There will only be a total of fifty of this board made, they will be individually numbered, and available for purchase through a very select list of dealers. We have also teamed up with Caliber Trucks and Divine Wheels and they are providing the awesome components for this exclusive new board. All we are missing now is a super-buttery board graphic from you! Come on and get some! Read More
Pictures Of You: Photog Challenge Results.
Hoody hoo!—that’s it—the Wheelbase Photog Challenge is a rap, and what fun it was getting here. Over the past two months we received well over a hundred photo submissions from all over the globe, and one of the happy results of doing this challenge was getting to see first-hand just how vast and how thriving our skateboarding community really is. Skaters from Russia to New Zealand are shredding hard and capturing it all on camera. It’s crazy ’cause every one of the photos we received inspired us so much and reminded us of what we sometimes forget, and that is that we are all part of a huge skateboarding family.
Ultimately, we had to choose just three photos to win the prizes and here’s how it played out: We chose the top-three based on technique, uniqueness, and style. It was a very difficult task, indeed, but we did our best and are stoked on the results. After picking the top-three we were then left with so many rad photos that we decided to also include ten more runner-up photo submissions in the article as well.
We’d like to take a hot-second to thank each and every one of the skaters/photographers out there who sent in their photographic stoke. You all did a killer job—hell yeah! We’d also like to thank the sponsors of this challenge for hooking it up big-time. A huge thanks goes out to Orangatang Wheels, Sector 9, and Paris Trucks. Without your support we could not have done it.
Enough with all this jabberin’—let’s see some action!
