Rayne‘s “Vandal” is a top-mount, downhill skateboard, featuring a stiff, vertical bamboo and fiberglass construction, a length of 35.5″, a width of 10″, as well as an adjustable wheelbase of either 25.25″ or 26.5″. This deck is built with a deep concave, distinct and various curvatures, as well as a sharp edge throughout.
The Testing:
In order to do our testing of Rayne‘s new Vandal we took it down one of Vancouver Canada’s most coveted neighborhood runs.
Results/Findings:
Pros:
The Vandal‘s lightweight construction, ample width, well designed concave, as well as the board’s sharp edges provide for a locked-in feeling that gives you confidence when riding fast roads with multiple, tight corners. We can’t forget to also mention that the tattoo-style graphic on this board is pretty sick as well.
Cons:
You do have to be careful with your truck and wheel combination choice when riding this board. We used 75mm wheels and 42º trucks, and we did get some wheelbite.
Overall:
The Vandal is a super-responsive, top-mount, downhill skateboard. It’s lightweight construction, solid width, sharp edges, and technical contouring combine to create an able speed-board that’s ready for anything. We recommend this deck to the skater interested in a top-mount that is quality, and ready for speed.

Maybe a very little, but not enough that ya can’t deal with. That would actually be a rad set up. Get Rad!

Wheelbite comes in many forms from a variety of styles of riding (and baseplate degrees and wheel diameters lol) when in doubt, a stiffer or different shaped bushing can help, but one of the best things you can do is grab a 1/8 or 1/4 riser. Knowing your tech and tweaking your setups for the style of riding, wheels or road you’re on will make you a better, safer skater, which means you can go faster and get more gnar!
